Want help deciding what grow bag or grow bed to choose?

When selecting a grow bag you want to think about how long you will have your plant in the Vegetative stage. If you plan to grow a smaller plant and have a short vegetative stage, you’ll typically want a smaller grow bag. Our most common size for indoor growers with a shorter veg stage is a 5 Gallon for photoperiod plants and a 3 Gallon for Autoflower plants. for grower looking to veg longer and grow a much larger plant, most growers will use a 8-12 Gallon Grow bag. for our growers doing living soil type grows, we recommend 20 gallons or larger in our grow bags or Grow beds.

when selecting a grow bed you want to think more about the floor space you have available and how much soil you want to manage. do you want to manage 20 gallons, 50 gallons or 100 gallons of soil?

most of our grow bed customers are using the living soil style for growing. most grow bed customers also incorporate an automatic watering system when using a grow bed. our grow beds start at 20 gallons and go up to over 100 gallons. We can also make custom size grow beds.

When thinking of your grow bed or grow bag setup indoors, we recommend using masking tape to visually show you what different size bags and beds will look like in your space. Just grab some tape and go to your grow space with a tape measure. Then tape off examples of what you are thinking. for example, if you are thinking of using 4 of our 5 gallon grow bags which are 12 inches wide, just cut peices of tape that are 12 inches and put them on the floor in a 12 inch square. then stand back and view it. maybe you are comparing that setup to a 30” X 30” Grow bed. cut 30 inch peices of tape and tape off the grow bed. This will help you visualize your setup. Take pictures of each version you try and you can review the photos to help you decide.

One of the most common setups for our indoor growers is:

  1. Start seeds in our seed starter mat

  2. Transfer seeds into our 1/4 gallon for 30 days

  3. Transfer into our 5 gallon grow bag or a grow bed for the bloom phase

If you’d like to know how we do it at honor, here is our flow:

  1. Start seeds in our seed starter mat

  2. Transfer seeds into our 1/4 gallon for 30 days

  3. Transfer into our 1.5 Gallon for 30+ days during the training phase

  4. Transfer into our 5 gallon grow bag or grow bed 1 week before the bloom phase

(This system works well for growing solid root systems and makes it much easier to feed and water while the root system is filling out the bag.)
